Boss Tony Pulis admits West Brom need a bit of luck to get them goals in their battle against Premier League relegation.

Pulis reckons the Baggies must avoid injuries to leading strikers Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye – because he has not yet found a free agent worth signing to bolster the ranks.

Albion enquired about Brazilian striker Nene, but cooled their interest before the 33-year-old signed for West Ham.

And Pulis admitted finding reinforcements is tough following the failed bid to land Carlton Cole, leaving Berahino and Ideye as the only fit strikers with Victor Anichebe still injured.

The Baggies boss said: "We've looked through all that stuff but it's no good bringing people in who are not going to improve things.

"If you're bringing people in just to prop it up you're wasting money and you're also dragging the squad down.

"It's very difficult for me to go and find someone now who's going to do something better than what we've got with the players that we've got.

"We've got make sure that we manage them right and we stay lucky.

"I've watched loads of players and had a look at the information that the club have brought forward about the people that are free agents, but it's very difficult out there.

"In an ideal world, if I could bring someone else in who I thought could do the job it would be brilliant, because it does give you that cover that we haven't got."

Ideye has netted four goals in his last three appearances following a dismal first six months at the Hawthorns, while Berahino has 16 goals in all competitions this term.

But Anichebe, Pulis's only other senior striker, has been sidelined with a groin injury since the 2-2 draw at Burnley on February 8. Albion hope he will be back next week.
