West Brom boss Tony Pulis reckons new signing Callum McManaman arrives with a "point to prove."

McManaman is standing by for a debut against Tottenham at the Hawthorns on Saturday after completing a £4.75million switch from Wigan.

And Pulis believes the 23-year-old is a man on a mission after more than a year outside the Premier League.

The head coach said: "I like having wide players in the team. I think the crowd like individual players who can take players on.

"We had it with Jermaine Pennant and Matt Etherington at Stoke and Yannick Bolasie and Jason Puncheon at Crystal Palace.

"Callum has something to prove which is brilliant. He is desperate to put his mark on it. I have spoken to a lot of people about him and I think I have a good gauge of his character.

"Now we want him to go on and fulfill his enormous potential. I am not sure whether he will start or not, will have to wait and see."

Pulis is targeting more new faces before Monday's transfer deadline but he admits he is not looking forward to the scramble for deals late in the window.

He said: "I'm not a great fan of these days. I think it puts added pressure on people. I prefer the old window, where it was a free market.

"These windows add to the feeding frenzy of certain individuals."

Jonas Olsson (Achilles) has returned to training for the Baggies after a lengthy lay-off.
