West Brom bid again for Callum McManaman

West Brom will return with a third bid for Callum McManaman – as striker Georgios Samaras headed out of the Hawthorns.

The Baggies expect their second offer for the 23-year-old Wigan winger to be rejected – but boss Tony Pulis is refusing to be deterred.

Albion's second offer, worth around £4.25m, reached the DW Stadium yesterday and, while Hawthorns officials had received no formal answer last night, sources in Wigan confirmed it will be knocked back.

However, Pulis will not give up on the star of the 2013 FA Cup final and is likely to make a third offer in excess of £5m which he hopes will convince the Latics to part with McManaman.

Pulis freed up space on his wage bill this week by allowing attacking midfielders Silvestre Varela and Sebastian Blanco to leave for Palma and San Lorenzo respectively.

And another exit should be confirmed today with Samaras joining big-spending Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal on a six-month loan.

The Greek international, who joined the Baggies last August, is expected to head to the Middle East with a view to a permanent deal.

Samaras, who arrived at Albion on a two-year deal, is one of a host of summer signings who have failed to make an impact at The Hawthorns this season.

He has played just eight times for the first team including five league games and three cup matches, all without finding the net.

Long-serving back-up goalkeeper Luke Daniels also joined Scunthorpe on a free transfer.

The clearout could continue with Albion open to offers for Jason Davidson and Brown Ideye.

Daniels, meanwhile, has ended his 11-year association with the Baggies.

The 27-year-old was the club's longest-serving player but he had made just one league appearance as a substitute and two in the League Cup.

Meanwhile, Albion's game at Manchester City on March 21 has been moved to 12.45pm for coverage by BT Sport.

Villa versus Albion on March 3 will also be on BT Sport but with no change to the 7.45pm kick-off.
