The first leg of the League One play-off semi-final ended in disaster for Jon Whitney's side with a Jason Demetriou own-goal and two Sam Winnall strikes seeing the impressive Tykes run out deserved 3-0 winners.

That result means the Saddlers now face a huge up hill battle in Thursday's second leg as they look to reignite their promotion dreams.

Speaking afterwards, Whitney expressed his disappointment at the way his players allowed their heads to drop after former Wolves striker Winnall made the score 2-0.

And Chambers admits the team needs to quickly put their disappointment behind them.

"I think subconsciously your head can drop – it happens," Chambers said.

"When you are on the pitch, you try and say the right things but when you go 2-0 down in a big game you can't help but feel disappointed.

"At times we played OK. We created chances. You want everything to go your way and when it isn't, your confidence can take a dent.

"We have given ourselves a lot to do, but we can do it. We are a team that is capable of scoring goals and now it's up to us to rise to the challenge."

Despite the loss, Chambers is adamant Walsall's players believe they can defy the odds and grab a big win at the Banks's on Thursday.

"We know we have left ourselves with an awful lot to do," he continued.

"We have to come out all guns blazing and put on a performance.

"It's been an interesting season for

us this year. We have had our ups and downs.

"On our day we back ourselves to beat anyone. We can be confident and we have to believe we can go out and do it on Thursday night.

"All the goals we conceded at Barnsley were disappointing and we could have got one or two at the other end.

"It didn't work out for us. But we can't feel sorry for ourselves, we have to dust ourselves down and put in a performance on Thursday.

"We have got to put on one of our best performance of the season and, if we do, we have a chance."
