The 21-year-old rejected the chance to join Dean Smith at Brentford in favour of a move to Madejski Stadium.

The midfielder came to prominence when he scored a wonder goal for Manchester City from 35 yards in a friendly with Toronto FC last summer, and made his official debut as a late substitute against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup in September.

Evans had been on loan at Walsall since October, scoring four goals in 16 games for the League One promotion chasers, having previously had spells at Crewe and Scunthorpe.
