Boss Dean Smith has urged Kieron Morris to find more consistency in order to cement his place in Walsall's starting XI.

The talented winger, who has impressed from the substitutes' bench this season, starred after being handed a start in last weekend's top-of-the table clash against Gillingham.

Morris repaid the faith Smith showed in him by scoring a stunning 25-yard drive which set the Saddlers on their way to a 3-2 comeback victory. And Smith wants more of the same.

"I was really pleased Kieron got that goal – he deserved it to be honest," Smith said.

"He did ever so well when he came on at Colchester the week before and we got another really good performance out of him.

"Kieron knows the big thing he needs to bring to his game is consistency. He needs to get more goals and more assists. It's just consistency, that is the only thing that is missing.

"He's such a talent because he creates a lot of chances for himself and he is unlucky to get to this stage of the season with only one goal.

"He has been close a number of times but he is a really good finisher and I do expect him to get more goals."

While Morris and fellow winger Milan Lalkovic have impressed out wide, Walsall have also seen their full-backs go forward with devastating effect this season.

Rico Henry, Jason Demetriou, Andy Taylor and Liam Kinsella have all found target this campaign – something Smith is delighted by.

"I don't think over the past three or four seasons we've had both full-backs score," he said.

"This season we have had all four of them score.

"Rico has got a couple, Taylor has scored, Demetriou has scored, young Kinsella has scored.

"It's really pleasing that all areas are scoring.

"Jim O'Connor has got a goal now, Paul Downing is waiting for his first one.

"But there are goals from all over the pitch. George Evans has come in and taken over from where Sam Mantom was. Sam started really well and was scoring goals and now George has come in and carried that on.

"If you are going to be a successful you need to be able to score from all over the pitch."
