Boss Dean Smith insists he has no concerns about Walsall's ability to score goals after watching his side draw consecutive blanks against Morecambe and Bury.

A lack of goals was one of the big things Smith and his coaching staff were looking to rectify this season after the Saddlers managed just 50 in League One last year.

The issue looked to have been resolved with Walsall's blistering start seeing them find the net 17 times in their opening seven games – a run which also saw them secure Capital One Cup wins over Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Brighton.

But the last two games have seen them unable to break down Morecambe and Bury despite creating a staggering 38 chances. "I've got absolutely no worries about this team scoring goals – none at all," Smith said.

"It's been two games we haven't scored for but that was two games in a week and we have created 23 chances against Morecambe.

"And against Bury we didn't get what we deserved."

One player Smith is expecting to keep scoring is midfielder Sam Mantom who managed to find the target three times in August.

Meanwhile, Walsall have confirmed two areas of the stadium are now sold out for the glamour Capital One Cup tie against Chelsea.
