Saddlers fans were often left frustrated during the 2014/15 campaign after witnessing their team score just 50 goals in League One – the fifth lowest in the division.

While star striker Tom Bradshaw bagged 20, Jordy Hiwula was the club's next highest marksman, ending the season on nine despite only joining on loan in February.

And Smith knows his team is going to have to be more positive if they are to realise their play-off dreams.

"We want to be playing more attacking football next season, especially at home," Smith said.

"I think we showed a little bit of that towards the end of last season. Rochdale, Fleetwood, Crawley, Oldham were all good wins where we played more attacking football.

"That is what we want to do next season because we want to be successful and win football matches.

"We have to be more aggressive in the final third. That will really get the supporters behind us.

"I think towards the end of last season the supporters could see what we were trying to do and we now want to move forward with that attacking mindset."
