Walsall manager Dean Smith has insisted he won't leave trialists Anton Peterlin and David Grof sweating on their futures.

The Saddlers boss ran the rule over the duo as the Saddlers opened their pre-season account with a 2-0 win at Greenock Morton last night.

Goalkeeper Grof played the entire gam,e while ex-Plymouth midfielder Peterlin was withdrawn with just six minutes left.

And, with fellow trialist Lee Beevers netting a one-year deal today, Smith promised he will not leave the pair waiting for long.

He said: "To be fair to them, I will probably give them an answer by the end of the week. They didn't do themselves any harm at all.

"David is a young, hungry goalkeeper who I think would like to come here and push Jimmy Walker. He pulled off some good saves and I wanted to give him the 90 minutes to have a good look at him.

"We need to wrap Wacka in as much cotton wool as we can, too. David made some good saves, asserted himself throughout the game, concentrated and I thought he did very well.

"Peterlin did well in midfield – as did Beevers when he came on at right back."
