In-form Cradley stormed into the semi-final of the Knockout Cup as they thrashed arch-rivals Mildenhall 59-33 at Monmore Green, writes Rich Jones.

Already carrying a 10-point lead following victory at West Row, the flying Heathens cruised into the next round.

They went through 108-72 on aggregate with another spectacular performance.

Fans' favourite Tom Perry struck a magnificent maximum for the hosts to lead them to a comfortable win, yet it was another excellent all-around team performance as they continue to dominate speedway's third tier in 2014.

Perry was in sublime form at reserve, blasting round Wolves colleague and Mildenhall No.1 Joe Jacobs in heat 11 to snuff out the visitors' second tactical ride.

Their first attempt at double points had also been nullified in spectacular fashion as Max Clegg stormed around Josh Bates to win heat nine.

Having landed back to back 5-1s in heats seven and eight and then seen off two tactical rides, Cradley sealed aggregate victory early on before wrapping up a resounding win on the night.

With Steve Worrall, Perry, Clegg and Williamson all recording big scores plus Danny Phillips, Nathan Greaves and Paul Starke adding useful contributions the Heathens again had strength throughout.

Team boss Will Pottinger was thrilled with theperformance. "We were pleased to get the better of Mildenhall," he said.

"To come out on top by 26 points was a great result.

"All the lads performed well and Tom Perry in particular was superb, so it was a good night for us."

Cradley: Steve Worrall 12+2, Tom Perry 12, Max Clegg 11, Matt Williamson 8+2, Danny Phillips 6+2, Paul Starke 6+1, Nathan Greaves 4+2.

Mildenhall: Joe Jacobs 10+1, Josh Bates 10+1, Daniel Halsey 8, Connor Coles 3, Brendan Johnson 1, Conor Dwyer 1, David Holt 0.

The Heathens ran riot in what was always expected to be a one-sided clash against an inexperienced Stags side.

Five of the Cradley side went through the card, with Perry, Starke, Worrall, Clegg and Greaves unbeaten.

They romped to an unprecedented 13 5-1s to claim a crushing win and add three more points to their National League tally.

An exclusion for Matt Williamson for bringing down Arron Mogridge in heat 15 and a third place behind Mogridge for Danny Phillips in heat eight were the only blots on a near-perfect Heathens scorecard.

Said Pottinger: "You can only beat what's put in front of you and it was a professional performance from everyone.

"You just want to get through a meeting like that in one piece and fortunately there weren't any hiccups."

Cradley: Tom Perry 14+1, Max Clegg 11+1, Steve Worrall 11+1, Paul Starke 10+2, Matt Williamson 10+2, Nathan Greaves 9+3, Danny Phillips 7+3.

Scunthorpe: Arron Mogridge 7, Sam Chapman 5+1, Danno Verge 3, Ryan MacDonald 2, Reece Downes 1, Liam Sanderson 0, Jack Hall 0, Steve Jones r/r.
