Tipton's Jamie Hughes picked up his fourth BDO ranking title overseas after going all of the way in the Swedish Open at the weekend.

The Black Country darter came through eight matches to become the champion and add to his British Pentathlon win in July,

'Yozza' has also claimed the Romania Classic, Antwerp Open and Zuiderduin Masters since the start of last year, making his World Championship debut in January.

And there's every chance the 29-year-old will be heading back to Lakeside, as his climb up the BDO rankings continues.

Hughes got the job done in style, too, by thumping Dutchman Ryan De Vreede 6-1 in yesterday's final, with a hundred plus average.

A miscount in the sixth leg didn't cost him, as he erroneously went for double eight needing 36. De Vreede was not on a finish, though, so he stepped back in on double 10.

Hughes really stepped the pace from the last 16, whitewashing Belgium's Stefan Deprez 4-0 to set up a meeting with Atkins.

He avenged his defeat to Atkins in the Belgium Open earlier this month, that 4-3 disappointment reversed emphatically 5-2.

His average rocketed past three figures from the semi-final, where he thrashed fellow Brit Mark McGeeney 5-0. That standard was maintained in the final, where he claimed top honours.
