Gelder will compete in a super middleweight four-rounder against Alex Hughes at the Hillsborough Leisure Centre,

writes Craig Birch.

Young Welshman Hughes, just 20, was a part of the Team GB set up as an amateur and has been compared to a young Joe Calzaghe.

He's already stopped his first opponent in the professional ranks, halting Mark Till before the fourth round was out on his pro debut.

Gelder will look to avoid that fate and catch the eye of the promoters, too, with Frank Warren and Dennis Hobson putting on the show.

'Danger' was left kicking his heels after lasting less than a round with Luke Crowcroft in Doncaster last month, because of a jaw injury.

The 22-year-old steps through the ropes for his seventh contest punching for pay, opening with two wins before four defeats, one by TKO.

He's trained by Robert Wright, a former British and Commonwealth title challenger, and Jimmy Gould, with Mark Wall acting as manager.
