Stourbridge lose Karl Hawley to Mansfield

Stourbridge are on the lookout for a new striking talisman after Karl Hawley left the Glassboys to join Mansfield Town as a first-team coach.

Hawley, 34, finished last season as the top scorer in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division and also won the league's Player of the Year crown.

But he has been installed as the League Two Stags' new coach, having impressed when working with the squad towards the end of last season.

Mansfield manager Adam Murray said: "Karl is someone I have known for many years.

"He brings to the club a wealth of experience in the League, which we feel will be vitally important to move forward.

"Karl has a great background in achieving success and promotions and we feel that he will add a winning mentality."

Hawley made 98 appearances during a three-year spell with Notts County, helping them win the League Two title in 2012.

He also played for Preston, Scunthorpe, Torquay, Carlisle and Alfreton.
