It follows talks this morning between Pardew and the board after Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Burnley.

Assistant head coach John Carver is also leaving the club while first team coach Darren Moore has been placed in charge of the team 'until further notice'.

Although Pardew was initially expected to see out the season after the board had decided against sacking him a few weeks ago, it's understood Saturday's limp first-half display and the sight of a half-empty Hawthorns prompted a rethink.

Moore is now expected to be in the hot seat for the remaining six games of the season ahead of a reassessment in the summer when a new man is likely to be employed.

The board had grown concerned about the lasting damage of keeping Pardew in place and hope this decision will re-invigorate an understandably frustrated and apathetic fanbase ahead of next season.

Pardew's disastrous Premier League record with Albion was one win, five draws, and 12 defeats. He won just eight points from a possible 54.

He took over the club when they were hovering above the relegation zone but leaves them destined for the Championship, 10 points from safety with six games remaining.

Pardew is now destined to go down in history as one of Albion's worst managers.

He failed to have any immediate impact on results and only won one league game during his four-month stay.

His tenure was overshadowed by a series of off-field controversies, including his ill-advised trip to Barcelona that saw four of his senior players accused of stealing a taxi.

He lost the respect of many senior players during his time at the club and engaged in a touchline bust-up with Grzegorz Krychowiak during the home game with Leicester.
