Villa are 'worth the challenge' to Tony Xia

Prospective new owner Tony Xia has described Aston Villa as "worth the challenge" as his £75million takeover nears completion.moreThe 39-year-old Beijing-based businessman met with Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey this morning and has formally completed the league's fit and proper persons test.

He is now due to travel to Villa Park for the final part of the process, with an official announcement expected tomorrow.

Posting on Chinese social media site Weibo, Xia referred to his purchase of the club from Randy Lerner as a "beginning of a journey unknown."

His message read: "13.6.2016, London, 11:30, the formal completion of the Football League proper test! Vera completed the acquisition formalities!

"The beginning of a journey unknown but worth the challenge!"
