Kyle Walker is not staying at Villa
Monday 21st February 2011, 10:00AM GMT.
Villa’s hopes of landing Kyle Walker permanently have been dealt a blow after Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp ruled out a deal for the loan star in the summer.
The 20-year-old right-back has impressed since he joined the claret and blues in January on temporary deal until the end of the season.
Walker has scored two spectacular goals and has caught the eye with his attacking runs as well excellent reading of the game.
His form saw him rewarded with a call-up to the England senior squad and, although he is yet to win a cap, he has been earmarked by coach Fabio Capello as the long-term option for the right-back slot.
However, Houllier’s hopes of landing Walker now look to have taken a hit after Redknapp confirmed he expects the player to return to White Hart Lane and fight for a first-team place.
The Spurs boss said: “Kyle will be back here for sure, he’s still learning and got miles to learn but he is a talent, a real prospect.
“He has got all the attributes to be an England right-back of the future.
“He’ll come back here and push for a place.”

Pretty bait really but hopefully coming Straight from Spurs will stop a few fellow Villans getting ahead of themselves. It was a loan and after his performances for us you’re talking serious money to buy this lad. If Glenalin cost the LIV 18m this lad will cost far more in a season or 2

”His contract with spurs ends after the season though”
Yes we make a habit of buying good young players for a few million quid and putting them on 2 year deals so they can talk to any other club after a year and a half. Great business!! Walker will be tied up to a contract for at least 5 years from when he signed, we do it with all our youngstars, they only leave on our terms, and he is a good player so he won’t be.

The voice of knowledge!!LOL
Walker and Naughton both were signed on 4 1/2 year contacts just under two years ago. Obviously maths not certain peoples forte.

Still no comfortable with the whole loan system within the Prem. To lower league clubs is fine – but to other prem sides seems wrong.
That said, I can’t see this lad being let go. Spurs have a lot of good young players on the verge of breaking through and this one is one of the best among them.

Great going forward but a defender he aint. Man U slaughtered the gaps he left when he was caught too far up the field.
I believe he said in a recent interview that he used to be a striker!
A better full back than Bambi Cueller but only a stop gap for Villa. Monsiuer H will already have several irons in the full back fire.

He is 20. Defensive skills take some time to learn…knowing where to be and when. Attacking skills are more instinctive.
He can become a top full back, with some work on his defensive skills….thats why Spurs will keep him and Villa can only dream about keeping him!
