Villa's hopes of landing Kyle Walker permanently have been dealt a blow after Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp ruled out a deal for the loan star in the summer.

The 20-year-old right-back has impressed since he joined the claret and blues in January on temporary deal until the end of the season.

Walker has scored two spectacular goals and has caught the eye with his attacking runs as well excellent reading of the game.

His form saw him rewarded with a call-up to the England senior squad and, although he is yet to win a cap, he has been earmarked by coach Fabio Capello as the long-term option for the right-back slot.

However, Houllier's hopes of landing Walker now look to have taken a hit after Redknapp confirmed he expects the player to return to White Hart Lane and fight for a first-team place.

The Spurs boss said: "Kyle will be back here for sure, he's still learning and got miles to learn but he is a talent, a real prospect.

"He has got all the attributes to be an England right-back of the future.

"He'll come back here and push for a place."
