Stourbridge Saxons' hooker Liam Wordley admits that the National League One side cut it a bit fine in Saturday's 21-16 victory over Otley at Cross Green.

The men from Stourton Park had led by 13 points with less than 15 minutes to play, but saw that lead trimmed to five and had to defend bravely with only 14 men for the final stages following Jordan Page's yellow card.

Wordley said: "I think we all had a little sweat on at the end. They are different from the Otley of old and we saw both sides play with great attacking intent.

"The worst thing about all the penalties we gave away was that our defence was great but the effort was undermined.

"We won a lot of ball, but it's how we use it."

The hooker was also disappointed that Stourbridge gave away an early try for the second away match in a row.

He added: "We talk about it every week but it gets to the stage where you can only talk so much, you have to do it on the pitch."

But Wordley is convinced that Stourbridge are moving in the right direction and said that despite their recent run of five wins from six games there is more to come.

He said: "There's a lot more to come from us. We have not had one game where we have performed for the whole 80 minutes yet.

"We have played well in fits and starts and the performances are coming on, but we have to do it for the whole match."

Wordley is new targeting a decent win against Tynedale on Saturday.

He said: "Tynedale have been turned over a few times at home and it used to be a fortress up there and they don't always travel well.

"We certainly don't fear anyone at Stourton Park."
