Northerners Simon King and Dave Myers, best known for their BBC cooking shows, brought their on-screen banter to the stage at the Civic Hall.

The roving chefs took to the stage for their sold-out Big Night Out show on the back of their bikes - Chopper bicycles that is.

From the off they whipped up a storm by cooking an aromatic prawn curry and also a melt-in-the-mouth beef steak dish.

They even invited two lucky couples onto the stage to sample the delicious smelling dishes and audience members were offered to taste poppadoms.

However, the night was more about how the pair made it onto the small screen as they explained to the audience how they met and then landed their first jobs on TV.

Throw in a some old baby photos of the duo, a few crude jokes and tales of how accident prone Simon is, and it was a recipe for success.
