Firefighters from Kidderminster and boat crews from Worcester and Droitwich attended.

The car's driver had managed to get out of the vehicle before emergency services arrived. A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to a car which was in the canal and crews assisted with the recovery of the vehicle.

"Nobody was in the vehicle when we arrived, the owner had managed to get out before we got there."

A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew also attended the incident.

The man was checked over by ambulance staff and discharged at the scene.

Wyre Forest station commander Robert Sproat tweeted: "Kidderminster car in canal: Vehicle recovered, no injuries, job done!"
