Train services disrupted after lorry strikes railway bridge in Albrighton

A railway bridge in Albrighton was struck by a lorry.

Train services were disrupted after the bridge was hit at Albrighton Railway Station – a stop on the Shrewsbury to Birmingham West Midlands Railway line.

The front half of the lorry's roof had been crushed in the collision and was then parked up on Station Road.

Network Rail warned of possible delays this afternoon after the bridge strike.

A tweet at 10.37am said: "Due to a bridge strike at #Albrighton trains may be delayed or diverted.

The lorry's roof has been crushed

"Please check @nationalrailenq before making an essential journey."

The bridge has a 3.2m (10' 6) height limit as traffic enters the village onto Station Road.
