The A34 northbound closed at 8pm on Friday and reopened at 6am on Monday for the demolition to take place.

Until today there were temporary lane closures on the A4040 (East) Aston Lane in both directions, the A4040 (West) Wellington Road in both directions and the A453 (North) Aldridge Road from Harrier Way junction and A34 Southbound link to Harrier Way.

The works are being carried out by Birmingham City Council to create a new road layout as part of the wider regeneration of the Perry Barr area.

The major works will run until May and will see the carriageway widened and work done on the new bridge at Birchfield Island.
