Revealed: Golden pathway to lead from Wolverhampton city centre straight to Molineux
This glistening stream of light shows how a new access road to Molineux could look if plans are approved by council chiefs.
The plans could see a new road created, linking Molineux to the city centre.
The image is an artist's impression of how the new Molineux Quarter Link Road could look.
It shows people streaming from Molineux past the city's archives, on the left of the image, towards the city centre.
The plans would see a new road created over the existing ring road and behind Waterloo Road which is to the right of the image.
The image forms part of a new masterplan put together by Wolverhampton Council to improve links for pedestrians and cyclists in and around the city centre.
As part of the project, a pedestrianised route running from Lichfield Street to the proposed £55 million Westside development around Market Square is also being considered.
Works around Molineux could also include the creation of a new 'event space' on St Peters' car park, in Wulfruna Street, and improvements to the subway.
A summary of the 'Connected Places Strategy' is being presented to leading councillors this week when they will be asked to give it their seal of approval.
The strategy will act as a future blueprint for all public realm works across the city whether delivered by the council or by developers.
Councillor Mike Hardacre, Labour councillor for Park ward, said: "I welcome and support any moves that encourage people to walk and cycle more, as well as plans that could improve access to the city centre, particularly the main business and shopping areas."
