Police say they have stepped up patrols around Great Barr Hall following reports that youths have been causing a nuisance.

The site at the back of the hall, which dates back to the 18th century and has stood empty since 1978, has been targeted by youngsters using off road bikes.

The Pheasey Park Farm neighbourhood police team said they will issue section 59 notices to anyone who is caught using bikes at the site, as well as the nearby Netherhall Estate.

The notices can lead to police seizing nuisance vehicles, which can be crushed if the owner fails to pay an amount to have it returned.

Sergeant Joanne Winters said: "The neighbourhood team have received a number of calls relating to a small number of youths who have been acting in an anti-social manner on the estate causing problems to local residents.

"A number of the calls have been in relation to the use of off-road motorbikes being ridden in an anti-social manner at the back of the Great Barr Hall.

"Neighbourhood officers have been conducting regular patrols at the location in attempts to identify and engage with youths and riders of the off road bikes.

"We will be working with local partner agencies in dealing with any youths acting in an anti-social manner and, with regards to riders of off-road bikes, police will where possible be issuing section 59 notices."
