The centre in Wolverhampton Road, Sedgley, has been awarded the cash by the Big Lottery Fund and the European Social Fund.

The money will support 100 visually impaired people over the age of 24 living in Wolverhampton.

It will help them to find employment and boost social skills through IT training, cookery courses and financial workshops.

It comes after news Dudley Council is cutting £250,000 of funding a year to the charity.

Head of charity operations Katie Jobling said: "We want to break down barriers to employment by improving people's confidence."
