The Talisman, in Wildtree Avenue, The Scotlands, Wolverhampton was closed at the start of the month when police found crack cocaine, digital scales and bags and wraps of cannabis in the toilets.

Owner Punch Taverns took the action to close it following the raid.

And the pub has also had its licence suspended following a review by Wolverhampton council, pending a full review when its longer-term future will be decided.

The closure sparked a protest from its customers who feel the pub is being unfairly represented and have said it is part of the community.

A petition to save the pub has racked up more than 600 signatures already, and the Save The Talisman Facebook group has attracted support from as far afield as Australia.

A spokesperson for Punch said today: "We will continue to work with the Police to bring a positive resolution and hope to have the Talisman back open and trading to the community in the near future."

A full licence review hearing will take place at a later date.
