David Watkins, aged 25, delivered the fatal blow that killed Joshua Price but 20-year-old Jake Henson was also involved, the city's crown court was told yesterday.

Mr Timothy Spencer QC, prosecuting, said: "Joshua Price was stabbed to death in a joint attack by the two defendants. They were in it together. Joshua Price had been set up to be attacked.

"David Watkins wielded the knife but both participated together in the set-up killing. They are cousins. There was a close relationship between the two men at the time, in the sense that they were often together."

Mr Price was murdered on September 27 and had been in phone contact with Watkins shortly before 5.25pm that afternoon, it was said.

"It was a text message but I cannot give you what was in it for reasons I shall explain later," Mr Spencer told the jury.

Over two hours later, Watkins sent a text message to Henson asking him to meet him in a field, continued the prosecutor, who added: "They did meet up."

David Watkins from Clem Attlee Court, Park View Road, Stowlawn, and Henson of Wellington Road, Bilston, both deny the murder of Mr Price and the trial that is expected to last for two weeks continues.
