Police have released this CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a female conductor was abused on a tram.

The Midland Metro worker was abused between The Hawthorns in West Bromwich and St Paul's in Birmingham.

It happened on June 15 but police have just released this image as they try to trace him.

Pc Robert Collins said: "At approximately 10.30pm a man boarded a Snow Hill-bound tram at Hawthorns. He approached the conductor to purchase a ticket.

"When the conductor handed the man his change, he claimed she had short changed him and became verbally aggressive towards her. He followed her around the tram swearing and shouting."

The 51-year-old staff member took refuge in the driver's cab and called police but the man left the tram a short time later.
