Eleanor Hawkins naked tourist row: 'Know where you're stripping,' says Kilimanjaro streaker from Dudley

A teenager from the Black Country who memorably stripped off at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro believes the furore over a 23-year-old from Derby who was jailed for doing the same thing in Malaysia has been blown out of proportion.

But Ben Boleyn said it was important to know about your surroundings before doing something that could potentially get you into trouble.

Eleanor Hawkins has now been freed after she and three others spent three days in jail after stripping at the top of Mount Kinabalu. She was also hit with a £900 fine.

Ben, aged 19, of Beechcroft Road, Wall Heath, shed his clothes last year after reaching the summit of Africa's highest mountain as part of a charity challenge.

He said: "The place where they did it was a sacred place but it is a once in a lifetime to be up there so I can see why they did it.

"I do think it has been blown out of proportion but that's their life."

Ben said he would take of his clothes again if he reached the top of a mountain again - but not in Malaysia.

"I would definitely strip off again but you need to know where you're stripping off. I asked the guides first if it was ok."
