The four-year-old black and white Springer Spaniel was stolen from the drive of the The Wassage, Little Aston Farm in Aston by Doxey.

A Land Rover Discovery pulled up outside and a woman was seen picking by a passer-by the dog up and bundling it into the vehicle.

Owner Linda Mullor, a manager of a promotional agency, said she did not know whether it was opportunist theft or had been planned.

The dog, whose name is Gwynne, is described as a small black and white female, mainly black with a white stomach and white flash on her shoulder. It is believed she was taken by a dull dark blue 4x4 Land Rover Discovery with modified/knocked in wheel arches.

Police are appealing for information about the theft, which happened at around 1.30pm on March 8.

But the family are also offering a £250 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the culprits.

Miss Mullor said: "She is a farm dog so has full run of the farm but has never run off before.

"She was actually on the drive so whoever took her can't have thought she had escaped from somewhere or didn't have an owner.

"We just worry what has happened to her and whether she is being treated OK.

"In a way it would have been easier if we knew she had been knocked over."

She added: "I've been madly posting on Facebook and making as many connections as I can think of, everyone has been absolutely amazing, offering support and advice, liking and sharing.

"I have been amazed at how many disappearances there have been recently and have been told that puppy farming is a real problem in Staffordshire."

Staffordshire Police spokeswoman Sarah Davidson said: "We received a report that a dog was stolen from outside a farm. The occupants were a woman with dark hair and man with stocky build. Anyone with information on the dogs whereabouts is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 615 of March 9."

Alternatively, they can contact independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
