Lichfield Street was cordoned off while firefighters used a hydraulic platform to remove the cladding from a five-storey building.

Strong winds had caused the cladding to become loose in Queens Square and the surrounding area was closed off for safety.

West Midlands Fire Service were called to the scene 1.21pm following a 999 call and stayed there for just under two hours.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "It was some cladding from a fascia on one of the buildings in Queens Square that came loose in the wind.

"It was in a dangerous position so crews assisted with bringing it down."

One crew from Wolverhampton fire station attended.
