Man stabbed outside Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital

A teenager was stabbed outside a Black Country hospital after being chased by a group of males.

Emergency services were called to New Cross Hospital, off Wolverhampton Road, shortly before 7pm on Friday evening.

The man was treated for multiple injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

A statement from West Midlands Police said: "A teenager suffered a stab wound after being attacked near New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, on Friday.

"It’s understood the 18-year-old was in Wolverhampton Road when he was chased by a group of males into a car park where he was assaulted.

"He suffered stab wounds to his shoulder but his injuries were not life threatening and he was later released from hospital.

"We’ve launched an investigation and have seized CCTV for examination.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a stabbing outside New Cross Hospital on Wolverhampton Road at 6.54pm on Friday. One ambulance attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient, a male, who was treated for multiple injuries before being taken to hospital for further assessment."
