Police and crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the incident, which happened on the A4150 St David’s Road near the Victoria Square bridge.

Paramedics attempted to save the man but he was declared dead at the scene.

An ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to an incident at the Wolverhampton Ring Road at around 12:35pm today.

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene and non-emergency personnel had also stopped to provide support.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done and a male patient was confirmed dead at the scene.”

The road was reopened at 2:20pm.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "Police were called after a man fell from a bridge over Wolverhampton Ring Road, on Railway Drive, Wolverhampton, at 12.40pm today.
