Sincerity Funerals recently opened new offices in Trysull Road, Merry Hill, Wolverhampton, after relocating from its former premises in nearby Bradmore.

The business was set up in 2012 by Sarah Grainger, who said they had made the move as they needed more office space.

Wolverhampton Council planning chiefs have now given approval for the new facilities – the mortuary and a garage for one hearse – to be built at the rear of the premises.

Mrs Grainger said: “I spent 15 years working as a financial advisor for HSBC and first got the idea to set up Sincerity Funerals after my mother passed away in 2012.

“When I was arranging her funeral we didn’t have a very good experience and I felt I wasn’t treated with any empathy.

“So I went away, did a lot of thinking, and decided I could offer a much better service in making sure other people’s loved ones are looked after with the care, empathy and attention they deserve.

“In our first year we conducted 26 funerals, and the business has grown to the point where last year we carried out 192. We work on referrals and things are still expanding.”

She added that the firm worked out of two other mortuaries in the city, on Penn Road and in Cradley Heath, and would be conducting approximately 40-50 funerals per year from Trysull Road – no more than two a week.

Gerwyn Owen, the council’s professional lead for transport development, said: “Five Ways (Trysull Road) is a very busy and complex location with significant levels of vehicle traffic and pedestrian movements, and the existing location is a concern for the Transportation Service.

“However, the proposed funeral director use is unlikely to generate a parking demand or amount of vehicle trips that would have a significant impact on the location.”

Sincerity Funerals serves Wolverhampton and surrounding areas Perton, Wombourne, Sedgley, Gornal, Brewood, Coven and Codsall.
