Developer Cameron Homes has submitted plans to Walsall Council for 14 new houses to be built on the former Broadway North Resource Centre site on Broadway North.

If permission is granted, all the properties will be four-bedroomed with space for 56 cars also provided on the development.

The ‘leafy’ road is predominantly residential, although the land is next to the Toby Carvery on Broadway North, and the applicants said the development would complement the area.

The old resource centre was used by Park Hall Community Association which hosted a number of different classes there for thousands of residents, including keep fit, cooking and gardening.

But the council declared the building surplus to requirements and it closed in December 2019, before being demolished a few months later with the land put on the market.

Temporary

Park Hall Community Association was put in temporary accommodation while a new permanent base is built for them.

In the application, agent CT Planning said: “The application site was the former Broadway North Resource Centre which was demolished pursuant to an application for prior notification.

“The Local Planning Authority determined that prior approval was not required on November 19, 2019 and the building was subsequently demolished in 2020. The site is now vacant of any buildings.

“The design of the proposed dwellings seeks to take traditional architectural cues from existing properties which helps integrate the scheme into the area and particularly across the site frontage.

“With all of the above in mind Cameron Homes have aimed to create a development which represents good design and make the best use of available land whilst complying with respective planning policies.

“The development will provide a place which has recognisable character with lasting traditional qualities in which people will enjoy living in.”
