Since 2011, when the We Love Lichfield fund was founded, 260 grants of up to £1,000 have been made to 164 different organisations across the district with the aim of supporting the work they do to “make a difference” to the lives of the district’s citizens.

A wide range of causes have benefited, from Burntwood Breast Care, a support group for women who are diagnosed with or recovering from breast cancer and Friends 2 Friends, which helps adults with learning disabilities to live independently, to Whittington Community Computer Group, which helps older people improve their IT skills and the Lichfield Branch of Parkinson’s UK which supports people with the disease and their carers.

Scout groups, music clubs and social groups for the isolated and elderly have also received much-needed cash.

We Love Lichfield (WLL) patron Simon Price said: “I am extremely proud to reach this milestone as we announce the next round of grants. I never thought when we started this journey that we would have achieved so much and helped so many people and organisations in such a short period of time.

“My thanks go out to all the We Love Lichfield advisory team who work tirelessly, even during lockdown, constantly thinking about how to raise money and further the cause, to the many local businesses that have donated and to the scores of individuals and families who have fundraised over the years.”
