Evacuation after Tipton electrical fire

One person was evacuated as firefighters tackled an electrical fire in Tipton.

The blaze in, Toll End Road, Ocker Hill involving power cables broke out on Monday.

Ten firefighters tackled the fire and the road was closed in both directions.

One person was evacuated from a nearby house as a precaution.

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Fire Service, said: "At 2.41pm on Monday, February 8 we were alerted to a fire involving power cables in Toll End Road, Ocker Hill, Tipton.

"Two fire engines crewed by a total of 10 firefighters responded, from Tipton and Willenhall fire stations. The first arrived in less than three minutes.

"The road was closed while we worked with Western Power to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. One person was evacuated from a nearby property as a precaution.

"The cabling was in a trench in an alleyway. West Midlands Police also attended."

West Midlands Fire Service was working with Western Power Distribution to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
