Sandwell Council confirmed that fewer crews were out last week due to coronavirus-related staff absences.

They are now working to catch up with missed collections – and are expecting further delays to both general waste and recycling bin collections this week.

A Sandwell Council spokesman said: "We’re expecting further delays to both general waste and recycling bin collections this week as crews work to catch up with the missed collections from last week.

"We had fewer crews out than usual due to Covid-19 related staff absences. Collections are currently one to two days behind, depending on area.

"If your grey general waste bin or blue lid recycling bin hasn’t been emptied on your usual day, please leave it out and crews will get to it as soon as possible.

"If your bins need emptying this week, continue to put them out as normal but be aware collections might take place later than scheduled.

"Crews will empty them as soon as they can. Thank you for your continued understanding."
