Boy, 11, reunited with family after police helicopter search

A family was reunited with an 11-year-old boy after a search in the Stourbridge area which included the police helicopter.

The youngster had run off while he was walking along a canal in Wollaston on Sunday.

West Midlands Police sent officers to search the area and also deployed a helicopter.

The boy was spotted in Bagley Street, in Lye, Stourbridge, at around 1pm and was soon reunited with his family.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We received a call from a parent at 11.40am today reporting that their 11-year-old son had run from them while on a canal walk in Wollaston.

"He disappeared from view and couldn’t be found.

"We sent officers to the area to search for the boy and requested support from the police helicopter to cover a wider area.

"At around 1pm there was a sighting of the boy in Bagley Street, Lye, and we were soon able to reunite him with his family."
