Among those was Duncan Edwards, from Dudley, who died from his injuries two weeks after the 1958 crash.

Rose Cook-Monk, the 51-year-old founder of the Duncan Edwards Foundation and Museum, is planning to mark the tragedy with a live stream from St Francis’ Church in Dudley, where his funeral was held and there is a stained glass window dedicated to his memory.

She will be accompanied by Reverend Hugh Barton but, because of Covid-19 restrictions, the event will not be open to the public. It will go out on Rose’s Facebook page and later on You Tube.

Rose also plans to lay a wreath at his statue in Market Place, Dudley, to mark the day he died on February 21.

Last year she officially opened the Duncan Edwards Foundation and Museum in Castle Street. The museum provides an insight into his life.
