Motorcyclist critically injured in crash

A motorcyclist has been critically injured in a crash in the West Midlands.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Aldridge Road and the A453 in Perry Barr, Birmingham, at around 12.30am.

The ambulance service was called to reports that a motorcyclist had crashed into a tree at the side of the road.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Crews arrived to find the motorcyclist, a man, in a critical condition after coming into collision with a tree at the side of the road.

“Colleagues worked quickly to administer advanced trauma care at the scene and on route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

"He travelled on blue lights and sirens with the doctor and critical care paramedic on board continuing treatment.”

One ambulance, a nearby paramedic, a paramedic officer, a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were all sent to the scene.
