Pedestrian seriously injured in Birmingham collision

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash in Birmingham city centre today.

Emergency services were called to the Parade, in Landywood, at around 3pm.

The collision involved a car and a pedestrian.

The male pedestrian was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a serious condition.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews discovered the pedestrian, a man, who had suffered serious injuries in the collision.

“He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in a serious condition.

“The driver of the car did not wish to be assessed.”

One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands Care Team were sent to the scene.
