Police officers called on the public to name the puppies – two girls and two boys – from a host of athletes names.

People can choose the names Tommy and Lewis – after cyclist Tommy Goodwin and athlete Denise Lewis.

And two other names in the running are Francis and Fraser after athlete Mark Lewis-Francis and gymnast Joe Fraser.

For the girls, people can choose Merry and Ellie – after Katharine Merry and Walsall swimmer Ellie Simmonds.

The other choices include Ama and Tessa – after netballer Ama Agbeze and athlete Tessa Anderson.
