Blaze rips through roof of house in Birmingham
Firefighters have tackled a "severe fire" at a house in Birmingham which ripped through the roof of the property.
Crews rushed to the scene at Pershore Road in Selly Oak in the early hours of this morning.
Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the house next to the Masalla Merchant restaurant.
Firefighters were sent to the scene from Kings Norton, Woodgate Valley, Billesley and Highgate.
West Midlands Fire Service warned people to avoid the area and said it was a "severe fire".
The first appliance arrived within three minutes and crews used breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze.
And a hydraulic platform was used to tackle the fire.
