Teenager in critical condition after stabbing in Birmingham

A teenager has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after being stabbed multiple times in Birmingham.

The 19-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds by the emergency services on Alum Rock Road in Alum Rock.

The teenager was rushed to hospital, after being found at 7.10pm on Tuesday, where he underwent emergency surgery.

He remains in a critical condition and the motive for the attack is currently not known, a spokesman for the force said.

The spokesman added: "Our enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened before and after the teenager was stabbed.

"No arrests have been made, but we understand the victim was chased down the road by a group of men before being attacked.

"We’re committed to tackling serious violence and knife crime and our investigation is focused on identifying those responsible for this attack in order to bring them to justice."

Neighbourhood officers have stepped up patrols in the area in a bid to reassure local people and businesses. Officers have spoken to witnesses, conducted house to house enquiries and are in the process of reviewing CCTV from the area.
