While rates of Covid-19 in Sandwell continue to fall, a few areas still have high levels of infection, including Tipton Green.

Tipton Green ward includes Tipton town centre, areas of Dudley Port and borders Dudley borough.

Lisa McNally, director of Public Health in Sandwell, said: "We are urging people in Tipton, and indeed the rest of Sandwell, to keep being careful to avoid infection.

"Although rates continue to fall across Sandwell we still have some areas for concern where the number of people testing positive in the last week has increased.

"The new variant of the virus that is prevalent in our area is more likely to lead to hospitalisation and death than the previously most common version."

Councillor Maria Crompton, deputy leader Sandwell Council, said: "We are pleased rates of Covid-19 are falling in Sandwell but this is not the time to drop our guard. the virus is still very much present and can still easily be passed on if the rules are not followed.

"I urge all residents to continue to follow the government rules and stay at home unless it's essential.

"For those who do have to leave home, such as to go to work or take children to school, please ensure you stay at least 2 metres apart, wear a face covering where required and wash or sanitise hands."
