Further 58 coronavirus deaths at region's hospitals

A further 58 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals in the Black Country, Staffordshire and Birmingham.

It means the total number of Covid-19 patients who have died in the region's hospitals now stands at 6,747.

A further 1,267 have died in the region's care homes.

The UK-wide death toll increased by 1,001 to 114,851.

Sixteen deaths were reported at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital, where the death toll remains at 648.

Thirteen deaths were confirmed at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, taking the toll at Walsall Manor hospital to 634.

Eight deaths were recorded at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs the main hospitals in Stafford and Stoke, six deaths were announced, taking the toll to 1,261.

Four deaths were announced at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the death toll now stands at 1,003.

Three deaths were reported at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross Hospital, where the total now stands at 722.

And 14 deaths were confirmed at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in the city including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where the toll now stands at 2,328.

Elsewhere 18 deaths were confirmed in Worcestershire – with 17 at the Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust and one death at the Worcestershire Health and Care Trust.

Meanwhile, 11,558,880 coronavirus vaccinations have been carried out across the country to date – including first and second doses.

In the Midlands, 2,119,497 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 71,431 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and February 9.
