Ablewell Advice Walsall has been given the signed shirt by Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz and will be holding a prize draw, with anyone who makes a donation to the charity eligible to win.

The draw, which will be for a signed away poppy shirt from Aston Villa’s 3-0 win at Arsenal in November, will take place on March 9 and follows on from a similar draw for a Rangers shirt donated by Walsall-born Kemar Roofe.

The Kemar Roofe shirt raised £3,375 towards the Ablewell foodbank, and project manager Keely Gabriel said she hoped the Douglas Luiz shirt would raise a good amount towards other services at Ablewell.

She said: “When Kemar donated that shirt to us, we put it on with the aim of getting £300 and it raised as much as it did, so we’ve set a target of £500 for this one.

"When we asked Douglas where he would like the money to go, he said he would be happy to see it go towards our whole service, which includes the benefits advice service we have and the job club.”
