Biker seriously injured in Bridgnorth Road crash

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash with two cars near Wolverhampton last night.

The biker, who is in his 30s, was rushed to hospital with a fractured leg, abdominal and pelvic injuries after crashing at around 7.30pm on the A454 in Wightwick.

Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were called to the crash on Bridgnorth Road by the Mermaid Inn and one car driver was arrested one on suspicion of dangerous driving

The injured man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by land ambulance and Windmill Lane was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

One of the car drivers sustained chest injuries and went to New Cross Hospital by a second land ambulance, while a Midlands Air Ambulance landed but flew off again after about 25 minutes with no patients.

West Midlands Police confirmed that the driver of a Ford KA, a 37-year-old Bridgnorth man, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
