Fire crews from Bloxwich and Aldridge were called to the lowland heath off Chester Road North at around 6.15pm on Sunday.

They found two separate areas of grass on fire covering an area totalling 1,000 square metres.

Drivers on the A5 Watling Street were affected by the smoke from the fire and several called West Midlands Fire Service.

A fire controller said it could have been youngsters who started the fire.
