M6 shut in West Midlands as man spotted on bridge

The M6 was shut in the West Midlands today after a man was spotted on a bridge over the motorway.

Police were called just after 12.20pm.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Deb Edmonds said: "Following reports of man on a bridge, as a precaution the M6 southbound was closed between 8 and 7 and the M5 north link road to the M6 was closed."

Just after 1.20pm, she added: " The man is now safe and with officers and Highways England are are re-opening the road."
